![]() ![]() ![]() This’ll take about 15 minutes, it being one map and it’s a shame this concept wasn’t turned into something longer. It can be frustrating practically having a one-hit-one-kill system, but overall it’s pretty decent. There’s a coulple of memorable sequences, too, like pushing crates around to avoid a grunt-manned turret and using one of your own to take out a group of them rapelling from the sky (out of thin air, for some reason!). You only get the “realistic” weapons, but they’re good enough. However, due to this new system, you’ll need to use tactics, as one head shot can kill you no matter how much health you have. Well, and the turrets, you see a few of those as well, but that’s about it for enemy variety. Which brings us on to the unique gameplay… basically, due to a new config file all of your weapons do much more damage, BUT the same goes for the grunts. There’s nothing bad about the design, but there’s nothing noteworthy either. There a quite a few outside areas, but most of them are quite basic. I can’t say I really enjoyed this one much, but hell, at least it’s a different experience.ĭesign is decent, there really isn’t much to say on that front. I almost give this one 3 stars out of respect for the author having a new idea than anything else. The ending is crap because I didn’t even get the satisfaction of seeing the explosions. But reloading from sporadic quicksaves gets pretty annoying due to repeating the same area over and over. If there were autosaves, this map could be pretty good only in terms of gameplay. Stealth and strategy are sorely needed in this map. The only thing missing (thank goodness) is grunts w/ contact grenades. Grenade spam, rappeling grunts from thin air, grunts manning high-rate-of-fire tanks. The mapper got out every annoying scenario about fighting soldiers and put them into this map. It was surprising difficult even for me… especially with no autosaves. So with the bad mapping, the tough-as-nails gameplay kinda makes up for it. The fact that the mapper left us an unrefined map (I swear, a wooden box broke into glass pieces) means he either had little experience or wasn’t dedicated to making a good map. I’m guessing it’s some generic base in the mountains with an out-of-scale model jet you must destroy. This also makes for a barely recognizable setting that reminds me of Blood and bones, where a player has to guess what kind of setting he is in. An area with about 20 breakable boxes are all empty so that was a waste of my time there. I counted at least 3 instances of bad mapping causing the architecture to look unsatisfactory. soldiers in some bland (and in some cases, poorly crafted) maps. The level is as described, a challenging map vs. Shame on you all godmod abusers (except phillip, he has to manage this website.) The Replay Experience Experiment aka TREE. ![]()
